Hi there,

as you will quickly notice I am a real green horn here. Despite that, they have assigned me to manage our telephone system. So I would be very(!) grateful if you could assist me with my first steps of my metamorphosis from Helpdesker to voice communication systems administrator.

As a first measure, I would to like create a report of all the TNs existing in the system including analog, digital and IP. Also, it would be great if such a report could include infos like DN assigned to key 0, type of attached telephone, pickup group, name of customer.

Thanks very much!

The most basic reports are called a "DNB" and a "TNB". You want to use a terminal program and "Capture" the report/printouts.

Ghtrout,

thank you VERY much!! I used the virtual terminal from Element Manager, c/p-ed the stuff into a text file and it worked very well!

This will help me a lot in cleaning up the mess we have in our basement.

Thanks again for the great and quick help!

The bottomline at the top:

Q1: LD 20 -> PRT -> TNB does not print all existing ports but only those that are configured/active. Correct?

Q2: How can I get a list of all ports including the unprogrammed? Do I need to LD 20 -> PRT -> TNB and then add the results of LD20 -> LUVU -> TNB manually?

The long story

There seems to be a discrepancy between the set of ports which are physically present down there in the basement and the list of ports created using LD 20 and the tools.

It seems LD 20 -> PRT -> TNB does not print all existing ports but only those that are configured/active. For instance, when I 'out' a phone from a port, that same port is no longer listed using the above command line.

There are even a few ports that are definitely equipped, which are also not listed. But if I try to get some info about them (LD20 -> PRT->TNB->%Port%. I get a SCH0805 (TN is invalid). The syntax for the port is correct, I think. At least, it is working fine with the adjacent ports.

The reason why this is so important to me, is that we have virtual ports for IP phones. These I cannot physically check if they are 'equipped' or not. So I need a reliable way to find out which of the ports are effectively free. And, of course it would be really wonderful to have a complete list of all the ports (programmed or not) that I could use when talking to OM.

Thank you very much in advance! I hope there will be a time when I will be able to give back ...

To see unused ports,

LD 20
REQ LUVU
TYPE TNB

and/or

LD 20
REQ LUU
TYPE TNB

they are in the "TNB" because they are not yet a "data block" - i.e. there is no data to print.
