Hi all,

I have a user who (while overseas) deleted approx. 500 emails from his Blackberry. When he returned, all his deleted emails still existed in his Outlook mailbox (we are using BES). When I checked his BB settings, it was set to "Delete On - Handheld" Only. Changing it to "Delete On - Handheld and Mailbox" fixed the problem.

From my understanding, there is NO way to sync his BB to Outlook so that Outlook recognizes the deleted emails in BB and deletes them from his Outlook mailbox. Is that right?

This is because BB does not store those deleted items and BB only syncs Inbox and Sent Items and does not sync deleted items since BB devices do not store deleted items.

Things I tried:
Change the settings to "On Conflict - Handheld Wins" but this didn't do anything. I also tried turning wireless reconciliation off and on again - still nothing.

Please confirm. Thank you.

You're correct...if the handheld was set to delete on handheld only, then when he comes back if he wants those same emails deleted from Outlook he'll have to go into Outlook and delete them.

I think that if you plug in the BB to his PC and use the desktop manager you can use that software to sync Outlook (i.e. wired not wireless) to get them deleted in Outlook / Exchange. Not tried for years so can't recall for sure.

Hi Z,

It may be possible but I tried it and it did not work (for me)
I believe BB Desktop Manager only allows you to sync your inbox and sent items ONLY.
As mentioned, BB does not store your deleted messages after you have deleted from handheld, and since it is set to delete on handheld only, it will never sync with the exchange server.

Does anyone have any other views on this?

Ah well, it was a long shot.

Not sure if this is helpful here, but I do know that emails deleted on my handheld WILL also be deleted from my Exchange mailbox, of course I do have Email Reconciliation on the handheld (curve 8330) set to "Mailbox & Handheld", Wireless Reconcile is "On", and On Conflicts is set to "Mailbox Wins".
