Accessing PC Via IP behind Router?

Hi there,

I have a cable provider who provides me with an ip address, years ago (before wireless was big) i used to access my PC from uni (using software) and my ip address.

Now that I have a wireless router between me, and my modem (and therefore a local IP) is there any way of me doing this as before?

E.g. I now don't appear to have a unique ip???

I used no-ip.com and run it on one of my Local PC from this you can login into no-ip.com and get your IP. Your IP will change as many time as your ISP wish. It's DHCP.
And then on your router you'll need to set DMZ to the PC ip address you want to. or using ports and do port forwarding...

I use LogMeIn (free version) to provide remote support to family (it's easier than shouting at each other over the 'phone).

Depending on what you want to achieve it may be suitable for use.

I think I may have to give that one a shot myself. I oftentimes get family members and friends asking me questions, that if I could use something like this, I could probably fix their issues within 2 minutes instead of trying to explain for 1 hour! wink
