Howdy all, i've just had an actuate server error placed in my hands and a damn good googling hasn't turned anything up so here i am.

The server cuts out at least twice a week i'm told and my investigation on the server has turned up the following:

In the Actuate5\server\log folder i found these errors:

****viewsrv5.exe*0000002896*d:\dev\server\view\private\vwheartbeat.cpp*00129*PRGRM*2008AUG13_16_24_29_GMT_Standard_Time
Cannot find server status record. Request server may have aborted. View server is terminating
****viewsrv5.exe*0000002896*d:\dev\server\util\server\reactor.cpp*00463*PRGRM*2008AUG13_16_24_31_GMT_Standard_Time
Reactor shutdown: waiting for counted threads to finish
****viewsrv5.exe*0000002896*d:\dev\server\util\server\reactor.cpp*00463*PRGRM*2008AUG13_16_24_31_GMT_Standard_Time
 Reactor shutdown: exiting

In the event log i found a 7031 (service control manager error, i know this is just a general error alerting me the server has shutdown but here is the output:

Event Type:    Error
Event Source:    Service Control Manager
Event Category:    None
Event ID:    7031
Date:        13/08/2008
Time:        16:21:39
User:        N/A
Computer:    BP1XEUAS632
Description:
The Actuate Request Server 5 service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 57 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.

I've also been told that the process in task manager occasionally spikes and starts using 800Mb of memory rather than the usual 4-500Mb, also the processer usage spikes to about 25% as well i'm told, don't know if this is related.

Hope someone can help a technie in need, thanks in advance

Addition errors found in logs:

****viewsrv5.exe*0000002896*d:\dev\server\view\private\vwheartbeat.cpp*00129*PRGRM*2008AUG13_16_24_29_GMT_Standard_Time
Cannot find server status record. Request server may have aborted. View server is terminating
****viewsrv5.exe*0000002896*d:\dev\server\util\server\reactor.cpp*00463*PRGRM*2008AUG13_16_24_31_GMT_Standard_Time
Reactor shutdown: waiting for counted threads to finish
****viewsrv5.exe*0000002896*d:\dev\server\util\server\reactor.cpp*00463*PRGRM*2008AUG13_16_24_31_GMT_Standard_Time
 Reactor shutdown: exiting

****fctsrvr5.exe*0000003500*d:\dev\server\factory\private\factsrvr.cpp*00226*08000*2008AUG13_16_22_10_GMT_Standard_Time
Factory server exiting as parent Request server seems to have died.

OK i've had a bit of luck and the server has crashed 5 times in the past hour (don't really know if luck is the right work there...) and i've noticed the following error is generated 1 second before the server drops out:

****reqserv5.exe*0000002592*d:\dev\server\util\acmalloc.cpp*00165*ERROR*2008AUG14_11_42_02_GMT_Standard_Time
ABORT at line 165 in file d:\dev\server\util\acmalloc.cpp

The interesting thing is that the server does not have or has never had a D drive (no mapped drives either)

Hope this helps somehow :-\

Are you really using version 5?

What OS is your server?

I see you just posted your issue on the official actuate forums. I'm sure you will get an answer there
