Norstar 616 DR5 - Enable Caller ID CLID Display 4

I have a customer with:

616 with software card NT5B10DE-93, and also has a connected Star Talk Flash VM (R03). In config, the software version is listed as: 30NTE08 DR5.

The customer would like to have caller ID enabled on their system. When placing a test call to the system, after the 2nd ring, I do a F811 and the displays just the line number of the 1st or 2nd line ringing in, not the incomming caller info. On the soft menu of the 2 line display phone, it only has "Exit" on the far left, typically I think "view" shows up on the right to display more caller ID info, but does not in this case.

I have also tested using a standard phone directly on the line to ensure that caller ID info is being sent from the telco, and it does work.

I have already exhausted my web resources to find the solution.

Does this software version have caller ID capability? Any features need to be enabled that I may have missed?

Thanks in advance! Any help is appreciated!

Your going to need the Norstar M6 device to enable the Caller ID. Seach the web and you should be able to find it.

you are going to be ok with the dr5 and the device that you need for CLID on a 6x16 is a C6.

Well, you've got me going in the right direction. After some quality reading it seems many are calling it a C6 module (6 ports on a 616), or M8 (for 8 ports on the 824). I found a few online, and should be able to get a hold of one.

I had a hard time finding an install manual for one. Any idea where to find one? I read in another posting that the analog lines plug into this, and the digital sets also. Any idea on the wiring, etc?

Incoming Analogs wire through, and needs 1 digital port to supply the info.

Adversity is Opportunity

To clarify: The C6 handles 6 lines for caller ID and will only work on the 616 DR5. The M8 handles 8 lines for caller ID and will work on both the 824 DR5 and 616 DR5. Lines will wire to the first 6 pairs of the amphenol connector, and you will wire one digital station to the screw terminals on the C6 or M8. No power supply is required.

Sounds like a piece of cake. That would be 6 RJ11's on each side, plus an RJ11 for a digital station port?

Exsmogger:
First 6 pair on amphenol, in parallel with the phone system? (run the incomming lines to both the ksu and also to this box?) Then just one spare station port to wire to the ksu?

Right. You wire the lines in parallel with your phone system and wire one unused station port to the C6 or M8 screw terminals. Then you have a little programming to do under the Call services heading to enable auto display to the desired extension. Only one extension can auto display before answering a call, but other extensions can use F811 to see caller ID before answering. Caller ID will display at any extension after picking up as long as 2 rings are allowed to capture the number.

You are the man. Thanks again for the info. I've read alot of other posts in which you have responses, and always appreciate the accurate information, and how you are always quick to respond to help people out.

Rik,

I am humbled by your comments. [blush] I wish I knew everything about Norstar systems, but far from it. I learn something every day from you guys. That's why I check in here. If my contributions have been found helpful by some of you, I just consider it payback for the knowledge you've all helped me acquire. My position on the MVP list is not important. It's an honor just to be listed among the experts who provide their help on this forum every day.

2 thumbs up for all of you. [2thumbsup]

I punched the first 6 pairs of the amphenol to the other side of the block and connected using bridging clips. connected x35 to the screw terminals (x36 = startalk).

Programming was simple (under General - Call Services [if I remember correctly]) to choose what the CID unit extension number is for each line, and choose default first display Name, Number, or Line for what to display on the phone when hitting F811.

It works great. Customer was very happy, as they've been wanting CLID for years.

Any idea what to do to toggle to other display (from number to name) with a 7208 (single line display phone)? Seems that F811 doesn't do it. It works great on the 2 line display phone, as the soft button toggles between.
