This is a new switch set up in my lab. Release 5.0, set up the IPMG 00, 01 and 04 via Element manager, verified all IP address info is correct. I watch the boot directly on the card and I see the following :

Found device : INTEL 82365SL

Engcode: NTDW60BAE5 REL 03
ELAN mac address is: 00:1b:ba:fd:2b:10
TLAN mac address is: 00:1b:ba:fd:2b:0f
RESET reason: Faceplate push button Reset.
Daughter board 1: NTDW64AAE5 R01 00:1d:42:ff:19:56.

It will stay in this state. I cannot even CLI into it to check the newtwork IP setup. This is on a CS1000E. Any ideas ? The last one I did similar I did not have this problem.

I did read there is a way to upgrade the MGC from Ld 143 manually, but cannot find the procedure. If no IP info exists on the card, it should boot up directly to the setup menu. So I assume the info was pushed via EM.

Here is the procedure to upgrade the mgc cards I had the same issue and had to install the latest patches on the call server then when the mgc boots it loads those from the call server, when it sends a query to it.

To add .lw files to mgc card as follows

1. Download files from Nortel espl
2. Copy files from compact flash to /U/LOADWARE IN DEBUG MODE THRU PDT ON THE CALL SERVER
3. LWLOAD FILES ONE AT A TIME
4. LWINST FILES ONE AT A TIME

Enter pdt and type in debug
EX: copy /cf2/mgcadd45.lw /u/loadware
then goto U/LOADWARE DRIVE
THEN TYPE LWLOAD MGCADD45.LW
WHEN THIS IS FINISHED IT WILL SAY OK
THEN TYPE LWINST MGCADD45.LW

THEN DONE

Thanks for the reply. The only thing I did different on this switch verse the one I just did last week, was I loaded the latest DEP list on the CS ( CP-PM dated 3/12/08 )before I installed the MGC's. I wonder if one the new patch's interferes with the MGC ? I may try and un-install the DEP list, and then update the MGC.

I do have ESPL access but do not have PDT access.

Is there any explanatory note exist in NTP`s regarding Upgrading/updating loadare of MGC???
Or somebody could put a little bit more info as cssupport answered regarding loadare of MGC.
i dont understand that part-->3. LWLOAD FILES ONE AT A TIME
4. LWINST FILES ONE AT A TIME

those are PDT commands to load the .lw files and then install them. If you don't know PDT, it could mean problems... Best to call your vendor for this!!

4. After the upgrade is complete, and the card has rebooted, FTP the file msp502.cmp from a local PC to the MGC card.
From the PC execute the following:
a. ftp mgc_ip
b. bin (make sure you execute this command to set to binary mode)
c. cd /p1
d. put msp502.cmp
5. Once the file has been transferred to the MGC login into LDB with the PDT2 account and password. Execute the

hi mike ,

u guys talk here about loadware 45 but nortel came out with 46 and now its new one :
CSP: MGCCAH17
MSP: MGCMAA07
DB1: DSP1AA10
DB2: DSP2AA12
BOOTCODE: MGCBAH09
FPGA: MGCFAA13
APPLICATION: MGCAAA05
TMDI/PRI: T1E1AA19

to fix your problem u need to connect directly to the mgc and clear the ip address then install the mgc again and from the element manager install all the new loadware ufter u finish make "upgmg all seq force "
before u install the ah17 make sure u are doing lwout 45.

after u upload the t1e1aa19 u must do reboot -1 from the c.s

i saw that u have the db9 and db32 so look in the new loadware i sent u its changed .

u dont need ftp and all that , if after the new loadware its still the same u have to format your flash on the mgc and start the process from begining.
if u have the same on all mgc make sure the loadware is inside the all mgc from the general command in the element manager.

do it if u need more help u can write to me.

I am installing a CS1K 5.5, and I am re-installing an MGC that was previously installed with different IPs. I need to modify the TLAN, but cannot do so since the MGC was previously installed. Does anyone know how I can change the TLAN IPs on the MGC, given that it was already assigned IPs?

On the MGC login and change the IP. Please follow the NTP for the procuder

My problem ended up being a Nortel Product bulletin that recalled the MGC cards. I got replacements and they booted correctly.
