Hello,

I am writing a little windows service intended to access a 3rd party API from CVENT.com. We have an account there and need a local replication of the remote database.

This is my first time writing for SOAP and I'm flying blind.(I am familiar with XML)

So far, I have started a windows service app,

added a 'web reference' to the online API at it's https: address,

Now what? Their documentation talks of a few things:

1. client app must login and receive a CventSessionHeader: client app invokes the Login call, it passes the Cvent account number, username and password.
(obtained these already from Cvent, account is setup)

2. upon calling the web service authenticates the login and verifies if the request is coming from predefined IP's
(we're good on this, I am RDP'd into the machine that currently has the IP for development purposes and is running VS.NET2005)

3. after successful auth, Login call returns the CventSessionHeader for the session
and the URL that should be used to make subsequent API calls for that session
(sessions are one hour.)

By what method (and possibly coding examples) do I make these calls? What is the syntax? I'm an old VB6 guy and just getting into .NET in the past 2 years and I only do ASP.NET web forms mostly so...this is different.
There are many articles out there on SOAP but I am missing the fundamentals I need to get going. Any good links are appreciated as well.

Thanks.
