Hi All,

I am preparing to write the Analyzing Requirements and Defining Solutions Architectures Exam(70-100).  I was just wondering if the format is just strictly multiple choice, or does anybody have any insight on the exam type.

Thanks,

It's possible you could receive all multiple choice questions on your test, but I highly doubt it. You may find it to your benefit to download the Case Study based demo test available at http://www.microsoft.com/trainingandservices/exams/examasearch.asp?PageID=70-100

In addition to multiple choice questions, you may encounter some select all that apply, drop and connect, and reorder the list type questions.

Also, there's a demo exam available from Transcender at http://www.transcender.com/products/demos.asp

In addition to what other colleagues suggest.  I would highly recommend practicing for the test with a Trascender CD for that exam.  It gives you a "real-test-time" experience second only to taking the REAL test itself.  The goal of using the Trascender prep. exam should not be to memorize answers, but to acquire test taking techniques. For this exam you'll need a well rounded knowledge about delivering solutions to a specific business problem.  The MS book to prepare for the exam has a thorrough explanation of the MSF (Microsoft Solutions Framework).  Don't buy that if your budget $$$ are limited.  The 70-100 test does not test your knowledge on MSF. Rather, it focuses on testing your ability to organize in your mind the details of a problem and solve it using your knowledge and understanding of networks, databases (heavy in this DB area), user interfaces, process flow, data flows, distributed software solutions, and other areas.

If you practice with the type of questions you're most likely to get (it is not all multiple choice - it's more like johnscott8 described) and force yourself to get it done in less time than the allotted for the test (which is a max of 3hrs - including survey time [Silvan - Prometric is big on the surveys before the test thing]), you'll do fine in this test.

Good luck!

Yes you are a MCP and congrats.

I passed the 70-100 test the first time with a score of 760.  I believe that by next year, only a few days from now, that the score system will be eliminated.  You will either pass of fail the exam.  Who knows that might be better!  I used several methods to study for the test, I purchase "Analyzing Requirements and Defining Solution Architectures" from Microsoft Press.  The text book gives detailed steps to learn how to understand an entity diagram and a chapter by chapter case studies that will help you understand how the test is given.  After a month of reading after work hours, I purchase the Trascender CD for my test priced at approximately $129.00 without shipping.  The CD comes with 10 test and if you study each test by rote, then there is no reason to fail the test.  I studied half the test and I passed.  Note: Try to avoid the brain dumps, the best reason I can give you is that most dumps are incorrect and also its cheating.
Best Regards
GB
