Technical problem HP 2500 Color Laserjet 3

Are you a very technical person?
This job is a pain to do, just did two back to back.
Requires a lot of knowledge to do.
If you have a technical manual, you will be able to do this.
Removing the carousel, and aligning it, then getting it back in while keeping the alignment is a bitch!
The marks are wrong in the manual, left side is correct, but the right side is in a small indent on the inside of the cartridge holder, below the black sticker. You must line up the two small nubs on the white gears on the top shaft to these lines on both sides. Sometimes it takes two or three trys. If no manual, dont try. There is a lot to remove.

Hey,
Like Michael says, since the printer has been moved and toners taken in and out a few times, there might be a risk that the carousel has become misaligned.
Misalignment issues are typical seen as fading on the left or right side of a printed page.
To fix this :
1) Take out the image/transfer drum and all the toners first.
2) Make sure the solenoid locking the carousel in the right side is disengaged so it can move easily when carousel is turned by hand. (There is a small opening just below the lid in the right side where you can insert a thin screwdriver)
3) In the lower left side of printer there is a Developing-rotary-engaging sensor photosensor that detects the position of the carousel. If that sensor is covered with excess toner it will not recognize the position of the carousel and it will keep rotating. Clean if needed.
4) Check the white gears in each side on top of the carousel and locate the calibration marks. (You might need a small torch light to see the marks on the gears and carousel)
5) You have two options now. Either remove a lot of parts including the carousel or try to squeeze back it the right place. Squeezing it back : Align the gear calibration marks with those found on each side of the carousel. You can use a flat screw driver and gently squeeze or lift the white gear away from the carousel teeths, so it can turn. Repeat this for each side of the carousel. If you do not dare this you will have to remove a lot more parts

I have squeezed the gears on this printer model quite a dozen times during training sessions for both our support agents and field staff so it is possible without removing half the printers parts or harming it.

When the carousel is aligned, you should then focus on the calibration of the printer.
The calibration is handled by the optical density sensor located in the left side in the front of the printer. You can easily locate it when the image/transfer drum is removed. Make sure it's absolutely clean or you will get blurred, diffuse or even missing colors on your prints.
