Hi

I've got and option 81c Rls 4, I want to make a licence upgrade I`m reading in the manual about feature and license upgrade (Communication Server 1000M and Meridian 1 Large System Upgrade Procedures (Book 3 of 3) from page 231), There are 3 ways for installing keycodes Diskette, Electronic file on a PC and paper-based keycode. I download to keycodes files from KRS: *.key and *.kcd. I read that I can transfer the keycodes using hyperterminal, Which file Do I use? (*.kcd for example).
The manual told me that once the keycodes have been installed a sysload is needed for keycode activation,My PBX has CP PII, the procedure in the manual is for an old CP, for CP PII the split mode is made by commands in LD 135.
My second question is: what is the procedure for making a sysload in a CP PII?

Actually, it will tell you either way if re-boot is/isn't required. You have the right book, if your under software conversion section, it steps threu the PII sys load.

Thanks bigindian65, I`m making ISM transfer (the 81c is the donor system), I'm going to reduce license analog and digital extensions. I think a sysload is required

That's right, decrease will prompt you for sysload. Good luck

Thanks bigindian65, I`m going to see manuals to see the sysload procedure for CP PII

So, This would be the procedure: I`ve got to put the PBX in SPLIT MODE (LD 135 SPLIT), This will make the core 1 to become inactive, disable CNI cards, then Reset core 1, Once complete the core 1 reset, check LD 22 SLT to see that the License parameters have been updated.
Switch call processing from the active core (Core 0) to the inactive core (Core 1) and repeat the above procedure

Are you going to do this out of LD 143 to get your keycodes on board?

I'm want to use LD 143 and transfer the Keycodes with HyperTerminal (I've got the keycodes file .kcd)

The way I read PIIs, when you split cmd, it should automatically reload the inactive core, which should have the keycode already on the inactive prior to the split command.

The manual about feature and license upgrade (Communication Server 1000M and Meridian 1 Large System Upgrade Procedures (Book 3 of 3) from page 231) has the procedure for an old CP, I mention that I've got the make a sysload (sysload core 1 and then sysload core 0) and explain how to put the PBX in split mode, I think that I have to do the same for the CP PII

Here is the book I am looking at, it is proceedure 61 for CPII & CPIV's, this is just part of it, do you have 553-3021-258?

2 Ensure CP 0 is active and CP1 is standby. It might be necessary to switch
CPs and split the Cores:
3 Wait until sysload and INI have completed.
4 In the inactive core (Core 1), load Overlay 143 and confirm that the new
License parameters have been updated.
>LD 143
KSHO REC (show currently used keycode)
....
5 Compare license parameters from memory to keycode.rec.
>LD 22
SLT (show current license limits active on system)
....
6 Compare package paramaters from memory to keycode.rec
>LD 22
PRT
PKG (show current software packages active on system)
...
7 Switch call processing from the active core (Core 0) to the inactive core
(Core 1). This command must be issued from active Core 0.
LD 135
STAT CPU
SCPU Switch CPs if necessary
SPLIT Split CPs (CP 1 reloads)
**** Exit program

Yes I have the manual 553-3021-258B3 (Communication Server 1000M and Meridian 1 Large System Upgrade Procedures (Book 3 of 3 rls. 4.5)I want to follow the procedure 61 (page 248)
Begins:
Feature and License parameter upgrade using HyperTerminal®
Follow the steps in Procedure 61 to perform a feature and License parameter upgrade using HyperTerminal®. Leave the system in full redundant mode(hard-disk and CPU redundancy).
Leave the system in full redundant mode Do it means that core is active and the other inactive?

Yeah, it is telling you not to maint. the CPs, and not to maint. the CNI's of the inactive core. Follow the steps, make sure you are clear that you are following the correct proceedure for your CP type and it will go okay.

Thanks bigindian65, I've got another doubt, once I install the keycodes and make the sysload, Do I have to get connected direct to a SDI port in core 1 to see LD 22 SLT command for checking keycodes(the same for core 0)?

If you don't have an A/B switch with the Core on it to where you can flip between the active/inactive, yes to see what is happening on the inactive core, you will need to plug into J25 or J21 on the back of the shelf with a laptop or something. I use a laptop and standard DB9 cable for that when need be. Usually there is a A/B switch between them.
