Hi,

You should be able to rick click on any file in Source Safe and select Show History. This will show a history of all check ins into the database. There you should be able to get old files, Roll back etc.

Regards,

Hammy.

Do you mean an actual physical copy of the file on the server?
e.g File1.Ver1, File1.Ver2, File1.Ver3 etc.

SourceSafe does not store the file versions like this.

yes .i mean that
i have oka.txt file
i have changed it containing

OK.

oka.txt is created and added to SourceSafe.
oka.txt is checked out and then changed.
oka.txt is checked back into SourceSafe.

You should now be able to right click on oka.txt in SourceSafe and select show history. This should show you 2 versions. You can Get or View either of these 2 versions.

If you can only see one version, most recent, then right click on oka.txt and see if the option to only save most recent version is set.

Hope this helps.

Hammy.

We also have this problem (new user of VSS)- I have 3 versions of a file and the history shows three versions. 1,2,3, with different times and dates. When I 'show history' I can then 'view' version 3, but I cannot view versions 1 and 2. It will not do a 'diff' of version 3 and 2 or 1. It seems that it is just retaining the history but not the actual code of the previous versions.
I cannot see an option to 'only save most recent version'.
I'm beginning to wonder if this really does what we expected it to do!

Re my above post, I now can see the option - but it is greyed out - this must have been setup that way by the administrator. I have added a new file and tried check out and in and older versions are now visible and saved.
Looks like it does work!
