I'm connecting to a mysql database through ODBC (RDO) and using Crystal 9. I have Can Grow checked and maximum number of lines at 0.

I have 4 text datatype fields in the mysql database and when I have my mouse on the field in Crystal 9, it reads them as memo fields.

Memo fields are truncating and not at the same number of characters on the report.

One memo field is only showing up to 275 on some records and 276 on other records.

Another memo fields is only showing up to 240 characters.

Another one is only showing up to 145 characters.

The last one is only showing up to 105 characters.

This is very strange. Any ideas what could be happening.

Thanks

P.S. I connect to CSV files in reports and long description fields are showing up fine in Crystal 9.

Yeah, Crystal supports > 254 chars in CR 9 and above, so that's not the issue.

Could be the ODBC connection.

I'm not too familiar with MySQL, I know that they have text and ntext (unicode), but you might try using a CAST or CONVERT statement in a SQL Expression to create a field type such as char or varchar in MySQl supports those and see if that brings back all of the data.

Thanks synapsevampire. I'll try your suggestion.

I tried to create a sql expression for these fields but in the SQL Expression Editor, the memo type fields are not showing as a field that you can use.

Thanks synapsevampire. I thought the fields had to show in the editor but with your help, now I know different. It worked great.

I stumbled across a hot fix on the Business Object support webpage and now it looks like all of the mysql text is showing and exporting to Excel without using sql expressions. That's one victory for today.
