Hello,

I am new to this AVAYA system here, and I am using IP Office and VM Po. Things are working relatively fine... but, I cannot figure this simple thing out.

Please, how do you allow E-mail Alerts for users who have received a voicemail?
I have tried to set it up in the Phone Manager, but it just doesn't work. I have to be missing something simple...

Any help is appreciated

-Mark

It is a very simple setup, you need to assign a SMTP mail server for VMPro. Go to Control Panel/IP Office Voicemail Pro and setup your mail server.

In Manager, set up the email addy and the type "Voicemail Email" settings.

Good Luck!

You must either have a SMTP enabled mail server(preferred) or a MAPI mail client.
For SMTP you can set it in the VM Pro client by pressing F9 and the select the mail system to be used, SMTP or MAPI.
Also fill in a email address for the mail server, like vmpro@avaya.com.

If SMTP :
Open windows configuration screen and select IP Office Voicemail Pro. Again select the mail system SMTP, ip address of the mail server and a email address.
Test the connection. If it fails then check firewall and or virus application, also the SMTP server must be enabled to relay messages.

If MAPI, install a MAPI compliant e-mail client like Outlook, Eudora etc. make this the default email program and make sure to create a profile for sending / receiving mail ( configuration screen - email ). Test the mail client.
Open IP Office voicemail Pro in the cofiguration screen and select MAPI, fill in the name of the profile and a email address.

Now you can enter the users e-mail address in Manager in the Vocemail tab.

thanks so much for getting back so quickly!

Now, forgive me, I said I was new at this...
I think we may only have VM Lite. Does this e-mail feature still exist?

I wasn't around when this system was installed, so I'm having a hard time administration, catching up, and implementing new features...

Thanks so much

Some Avaya Docs say email alerting should be possible with vmlite too, does anyone say how set it up ?
How can I set the sender email address ?

thank you

HB

This can be done with VMLite but only using MAPI. You cannot use SMTP in this scenario.

You will need a MAPI client (eg Outlook) installed on the same PC as VMLite. You need to configure it to use an email account that has been setup in your mail server (eg Exchange). I suggest creating a new account called Voicemail (eg voicemail@company.com) and use this. Then when a user receives and email it will show as coming from Voicemail. Some people set it up under the user Administrator but you don't really want voicemails coming from this user.

Configure Manager to have the email address for the users in the User/Voicemail tab. Leave Outlook on the VMLite PC open and when a voicemail is left, VMLite will use MAPI to talk to Outlook and send the email.

Watch the VMLite window (must have Run ticked) and you'll see a message saying email notification.

Hope this helps.

ps strongly suggested to download the Engineer's Toolkit from the support.avaya.com website as this is the bible and has everything you could ever want to know about the IP Office and tells you exactly how to do things like this. It also explains the MAPI and SMTP options in VMPro.
