Can someone (Bo?) refresh my memory on how alohaspy integrates to the video system?

I'm pretty sure that iber.exe will send the data to the alohaspy server, once it is enabled.

But how does the TVS box hookup to the video system?

Does it work with any video system?

Any pitfalls? Any extra hardware besides the TVS box?

Easy setup and install
The TVS connects to the Aloha server through serial port. The TVS is then connected to the Video system using a Coaxial Cable. We currenly use Eye Max software for our Video system and it works great.

If you have a documents CD it is listed under the Specialfeatures PDF.
If this doesn't help, encrypt your email into a post and I'll send you a copy of the pdf.

I read the docs, but in typical Aloha fashion they are less than perfect.

Here's what I am trying to understand.
Does the terminal send the data via IP to the text inserter?
Does the text inserter goes inline with the cable from the camera to the VCR?

Or does the spydata go to the BOH over IP, then from the BOH to the text inserter using a serial com port?

And how to do a 4 terminal system? Do I need 4 TVS boxes? Do they go on each terminal? Or do I need 4 TVS devices attached to 4 com ports on the BOH? And consequently, 4 IP addresses?

And the EyeMax software is optional, right? Or must you use a software based video system? I was under the impression that the TVS device adds the text directly into a video signal, so that any VCR, DTR, DVR, whatever, could just record the video with the text embedded already.

Aloha saves the text somewhere and sends it out via the serial connection line to the dvr unit.
To setup 6 terminal on Com4 do the ini as it shows:
[COMM4]
BAUDRATE=19200
PARITY=0
STOPBITS=1

[DEVICE1]
DEVICETYPE=COMM
DEVICETYPEID=4

[TERM1]
DEVICEID=1
SPYTYPE=TVS

[TERM2]
DEVICEID=1
SPYTYPE=TVS

[TERM3]
DEVICEID=1
SPYTYPE=TVS

[TERM4]
DEVICEID=1
SPYTYPE=TVS

[TERM5]
DEVICEID=1
SPYTYPE=TVS

[TERM6]
DEVICEID=1
SPYTYPE=TVS
I have only set it up twice and don't know exactly how it works, all I did was follow the document step by step and then did what I had to do with the dvr software to identify term1, term2, etc. Sorry not much more help, but I am far from a pro with this and actually I try and avoid it cause I don't have a big interest in it.

as far as i know terminals can send text to the spy server either through serial or tcp (you specify this in alohamnager)
there are several software for viewing text input from terminals. one that does it via tcp/ip is flexwatch manager but you need small program that recognize inputs from terminals.

I'm coming in on this a little late, but I might be able to help. We have dozens of Aloha systems connected to DVR's with pretty good results. The results depend on what information you are looking for. Alohaspy does not provide Table number, number of guests, credit card tips, etc. It does provide cancels for QSR environments, but not Order Number. It kinda works with Table Service and Quick Service, but needs lots of work.
