10g AS - occasional "page cannot be displayed"

Hi all,
I am coming across a problem with my new installation of Oracle 10g AS. It is a deployment containing Java servlets. Every now and then users get a message to say "Page cannot be displayed". I imagine it may be something to do with the timeout settings and when the server is not detected this error message is shown. Has anybody else ever experienced this before?
