Hello

Im totally new to the Nortel land of things but i have a quick question.

We have Baystack 450's and i was wondering if there is a tool, application or way that can back these up automatically? For instance with Cisco i use Cattools. Hate having to go to them and manually do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rob

Nortel's Optivity product used to be able to do this, I think now its called something catchy like Enterprise Network Management System. :)

If you don't mind a little scripting on the Baystacks there are only a couple SNMP OID numbers that allow a guy to copy the config to a tFTP server. If you're interested let me know and I'll find them and include them in a post.

Hi anthonyanderberg

Id be interested in those OID's if you wouldnt mind?

Thanks

Rob

Sure, I originally found these in the S5-AGENT-MIB.
Older models like the 350/450 could tell what kind of software image (boot/agent) was being upload automatically, newer models use a variation on these OIDs to tell the switch 'here comes a boot image' or 'here comes an agent runtime image'... but the config stuff works the same.

Of course you'll need to set the read/write community string to user these, something that always gives me pause considering SNMP's insecure nature.

Set this to the tFTP server's address:
s5AgMyIfLdSvrAddr
.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.4.2.2.1.5.1

Set this to the config file name (b450_0.cfg by default):
s5AgMyIfCfgFname
.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.4.2.2.1.4.1

This initiates the action, depending on what you're doing:
s5AgInfoFileAction
.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.4.2.1.24
1 = nothing (for read-only use)
2 = download config to switch
3 = download image to switch
4 = upload config to server
5 = upload image to server

This tells the status of the transfer:
s5AgInfoFileStatus
.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.4.2.1.25
1 = none (read-only use)
2 = in progress
3 = success :)
4 = fail :-(

Happy scripting!

Thats great Thanks for all you help anthonyanderberg, ive given you a star!

This is exactely what i needed.
