Problems displaying Contact Center Management Screen in Web Client

We are running the Symposium Web Client V4.5 on a number of PC's running both Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

On one particular PC (running 2000), anyone can login to the web client and view everything except for the Contact Center Management screen.

The error states that there are "No configured servers". On the other screens, where there is either a plus sign or icon to select, they are missing.

We have removed the Client SOAP and reinstalled it with no change.

Has anyone seen anything like this before..??

Has there been a name or IP change of the Symposium server?
 
There have not been any changes to the Symposium Server since we went live in late August.

I have about 30 computers that have access to the Symposium Server via the web client and this is the only one that is acting weird like this.
 
We had the same issues . THe IE browser used at this location was locked down to prevent enabling of the Active X controls and to prevent the addition of trusted sites . We had to manually add the as a trusted site and also enable all Active X controls . Nortel also posted the following info that may relate to your problems .

Symptoms:
Cannot open Contact Center Management.
Error in bottom left corner when accessing CCM.
Error: Index out of bounds.
Error on line 143 of  When selecting server in CCM, "Symposium Call Center Server Login - Web page Dialog" window is displayed.
Cause:
Client PCs have a third-party software that uses/installs its own version of sstree.ocx file that is not compatible with SCCS version.
Fix: 
Contact Nortel Networks Customer Support to get a new version of Sheridan Active TreeView.
The following steps allow Sheridan Active TreeView (v. 1.0.4.20) to be downloaded properly.
1. Install new version of sstree.cab on the SWC server.
2. Remove any sstree.ocx on client PCs.
3. Connect again from client PCs to SWC.

We checked all of this and it is the correct version. We even tried another uninstall / reinstall and that did not clear it up.

Any other thoughts..??

Access the Nortel PEP site and download the Client Controls.msi file and run it on the PC having the problem. It will fix the problem.

Ditto on running the ClientControls.msi file. This file can also be found on the Web 4.5 application CD. At least on a recent 5.0 install that is where it was located.

Run this file on the PC in question, setup the trust site, and verify all activeX controls are enabled.

Its probably the XP firewall.... you have to open up the ports on the firewall in order to allow the Web Client Server to communicate with it.

Also its not just Soap that has to be installed if you aren't an administrator of your box. You have to have the msi file from the Web Client to get it to load the features properly.

This is from the Planning, Installation, Maintenance Guide for the Web Client 4.5:

"For those users who have a central management tool in their network, such as a Systems Management Server (SMS), Nortel Networks has bundled the required third-party controls into a single file called ClientCtrls.msi. You
can use the SMS server to run this file and silently install all the required third-party controls on all the SMS clients, regardless of the level of user
who has logged on to the PC. For details, see “To run the ClientCtrls.msi file from an SMS server” on page 658."

! Port 80 for Internet Explorer’s communication
! Port 443 (HTTPS) for secure HTTP communication (only
applicable if SSL is enabled for secure IIS communication)

Server 2003 platforms only). Port 389 is for LDAP, while port 636 is for SSL.
! Port 3389 for Terminal Services’ communication
! Port 25 (SMTP) for the Historical Reporting component to
send e-mail notifications when reports are printed and saved

Just remember that the Symposium Server and the Web Client Server have to be set up on a Multicast netowrk. The clients can be either Multicast or Unicast just make sure you have the right UDP ports set up on the Windows XP Firewall for the client to be able to recieve the communications.

It looks like I will need to have my vendor get the PEP. I got the CD of the web client and the msi is not located on it.

The CD is version 04.05.003.02. I looked for the reference mentioned above and all of the docs on the CD have "Preliminary" on them. I may have a pre-release.

I found the following msi's on the cd...

ADAMSchema.msi
AddClientInstall.msi
ClientSoap.msi
CRTemplates.msi
ServerSoapInstall.msi
Symposium Web Client.msi

Once I get the ClientControls.msi from my Vendor, I will try it out and let everyone know what happens.

We've got the file spelled wrong. It's actually ClientCtrls.msi

On the recent SCCS 5.0 install it was located in the root directory of the WEB 4.5 CD.

For reference, this procedure is covered in the Planning, Installation, and Administration Guide for Symposium Web Client on about page 659.

 
I got the ClientCtrls.msi from my vendor this morning, had it installed on the PC, and everything now works.
