My Senior VP has two admins that sit near his office. They each have both appearances of his line on their 2420 sets. Problem is that when his appearance rings on their phone, it sounds just like their own line. They would like to have unique ring pattern when his appearance is ringing. Is there any way to do this? I looked on the stations, and the only thing that I thought would help was the abbreviated ring option in the "Per Button Ring Control". In my tests, however, I didn't notice any difference.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

The quick answer is: No. Although that feature SHOULD be implimented in future releases.

Yes, in the future everything will work

While you can't change the ring pattern on the bridged appearances, you can change the ring on their own personal stations. Make that the unique ring to distinguish the other.

fOnetech, thanks for the idea, but in my testing, the ringing pattern on the bridged appearances matches that of the personal station, so they appear to be tied together.

That works if you are within ear-shot of the phones that are bridged.

We did something like this for one of our top executives. It took a good bit of special wiring and finding some old phone system bells.
First set up an analog line but replace the call appearance of the analog line with the executive’s line.
Second, wire up the admin’s desks so they can have not only their regular phone line, but the analog line as well.
Connect the bells to the analog line.
The hard part is to find these bells. We got them at Radio Shak about 10 years ago. I think they were intended for use at home to put a ringer bell for your phone in a loud workshop area or something. For us it worked very well and the admin’s are quite please with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have decided to inform them that the option is not available at this time.
