I have the task of eliminating the PC's in my office and replacing them with CE.net thin clients that connect to a W2k3 server through Citrix Presentation Server 3.0. Everything goes fine except for random freezes of the dos window (normally when activating a menu). Memory utilization seems fine, performance with more that 2 people logged in running the Fox app seem fine. But the dos window begins ignoring all input (from mouse or keyboard), the properties icon on the title bar still functions - I can change font size, reposition the window. I can even still run other apps on the desktop of the citrix connection, just not that DOS window. TameDOS and others like that have not been helpful yet. I have disabled HyperTreading (HP DL380 G4 - Dual Xeon 3.4 with 4GB RAM). Life was good with TameDOS and W2K server. Files are being housed on the same Novell 5.1 as they always have been.

Solve my issue and be a hero.

Unlikely to help you: Type in FoxProX rather than Fox at the DOS prompt. Are you running FoxPro 2.x from Command.com rather than Cmd.exe? While Command.com is not as powerful in the XP interconnections, it has better backwards compatibility for DOS-based programs. In its properties you can also try sliding the Idle Sensitivity to the right so that the Windows and non-Windows programs coexist better.

The best suggestions are in thread184-524024 and thread184-653994: FP and VFP are not supported on the Pocket PC. You can use .NET technologies or API. Also, try using DOS emulators, and they work really well. PocketDOS is one, visualCE from Syware is another.
Post back on what helps or resolves your problem.

The posts for CE.net are not my answer, since it is the W2k3 servers that are trying to run the FoxPro (and the app that we built is in FoxProx)[If we had all of the code for it, we would convert to visual, but alas, some code is so old, no one knows where code is any more, we just recycle the compiled portions]. I believe that Citrix is launching the program in a cmd window (I do not know how to force the use of a command window). Right now I am going after a suggestion from a local individual that says go after a device driver (many people have had problems with ATI and old DOS apps).

I have had a simalar problem with stand alone W2K Pro machines. My problem was the program was looking for a printer on LPT1: and I didn't have one.

The program runs fine, except if I try to move windows around, the dos window stops responding. The session is still happy, the dos window's edit-move-default stuff still works, but fox is no longer processing inputs or any processes from what I can tell. I have run under W2k Server/Citrix/TameDOS before with no issues.
