Hello,

Have someone ever experinced this problem: Once in awhile users can't dial out using softphones or IP phones. in a log file I can see the message saying "No VoCoder is available for the dial/ring tone to Extn XXX". We have IP Office 406 v.1 and PRI line. Reboot helps in this case and systme will work fine for another couple hours...

Thanks,

Oleg

Also, on Avaya 4620 IP phones it says "Unobtainable" instead of providing a dial tone....

Disable the following on the VoIP extensions "Enable Faststart" and select "Automatic Selection" in you codec settings.
Should solve your problem.

intrigrant,

Thanks for your advice. I'll try it right away...
Do you know why it is happening? Is there something what could be done on the network itself to avoid this kind of problems?

If you start SysMon and select in the Filters -> trace options -> system "Development tracing" then you can select under status -> Voice Compression.
her you can see in real time the use of VCM channels.
There are channels op were there are no packets send in the TX row ( or was it RX row, i forgot ).
This means that this VCM channel is locked.
It happens because of the Faststart option.
Without the faststart the IP Office negotiates for every call with the device about coded etc. with faststart it doesn't and it can block a VCM channel.
In time all channels gets blocked and you will have the problems you experience.
I have seen it happening using VM Pro recordings on IP Phones.

I'm not sure what makes you think so? I have ver. 2.1.27 on IP Office 406, 2.1.10 for the Phone Manager and 2.1 for Voicemail Pro...
