I have an IP403 which I was able to get into through direct connect using a cat5 connected to LAN port 8. Now after someone was screwing around in the box, I cant connect to it. I found out the IP address on the unit has changed for some reason. I put in that address in Manager and it doesnt connect to the unit, but I can ping the address.

My question, is there any other way to connect to the unit and return it to the default configuration.

If you realy need to default the unit read FAQ940-5354 for instructions on using the DTE port

rememnber you only need to erase the config & NOT the firmware ( DO NOT ENTER AT-X!)

But at the same time dont be afraid of the X!

Im following the steps for the recovery. It says when I watch the TFTP log while rebooting, it'll show me the  MAC address as 00e007xxxxxx.

This is what I get in the TFTP log:
Thu 10/2/2005 08:49:45 : Received BOOTP request for 005004226408 0.0.0.0 , unable to process.

Im pretty sure that's not the MAC address for this unit. Let me also tell you that there is an IP400 expansion units connected to this. This is all new equiptment that has not been in service yet.

As I said I was always going into the unit throught direct connect using the 192.168.42.1 address. Well I found out this morning that someone went into the unti and changed the DHCP Mode form server to disabled without entering any IP address or DNS server information and tried connecting it to our network. That is when this problem started.

the TFTP request you have seen is probably from another device on the network requesting a DHCP address

the 1st 3 bytes of a mac address are registered by manufacturer so IP Office Mac addresses are always in he range 00e007XXXXXX

make sure your working directory is right
