IBM: TSM (ADSM) back-up FAQ

ADSM/TSM Troubleshooting Tips

Default Location for the TSM API Files on Windows
Posted: 17 Apr 09

TechDoc: 1079421
Default Location for the TSM API Files
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21079421

Problem(Abstract)
DSMI_DIR is not set, but TSM API files will still be found

Cause
The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->IBM->ADSM->CurrentVersion->Api Path key in the registry will indicate where the TSM API files are installed.

Resolving the problem
If the TSM API is being used and the DSMI_DIR variable is not set to indicate a path for locating the files, the process will look in the registry to find the TSM API location:
In the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->IBM->ADSM->CurrentVersion->Api

In the right frame there will be a Path key

For example: c:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\api (this is the default)
