Posted: 24 Jan 06 (Edited 24 Jan 06)

When using Outlook and Exchange Server over the MUVPN client you will need to enter the Exchanger server's ip address and hostname in the LMhosts and Hosts file.

This will resolve the Exchange Server is unavailable error.

more information on these files can be found here.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=101927
http://labmice.techtarget.com/networking/lmhosts.htm

open up my computer and browse to

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

you will find two files name hosts and LMhosts

Make the following entry in the hosts file
exchange.server.ip.address   hostname.domain name

Example

172.16.50.1  mail.example.com

make the following extry in the Lmhosts file

exchange.server.ip.address hostname #PRE #DOM:domain.name

Example

172.16.50.1 mail #PRE #DOM:example.com

now you should be able to connect your your exchange server using outlook
