Status 94 accessing a Pervasive.SQL Server across a WAN

From the Pervasive site
Problem Description: Status 94 accessing a Pervasive.SQL Server across a WAN
Problem Environment: Pervasive.SQL v7 Windows NT
Microsoft Windows 9.x
The remote site was able to create, delete, and modify files via the Operating System
Function Executor returns Status 94 (even with a non-existent file) on an Open operation
InstallScout failed Read and Write tests
Cause of this problem: Since the workstation requester is responsible for routing the request, it was probably building the request (with the UNC pathname) and passing it to the wrong server (if the WINS database provided an incorrect name resolution), which resulted in the Status 94
Solution: Forcing the synchronization of the WINS database fixed the problem. (Workaround use IP address in the mapping rather than server name)
NOTE: Since the workstation requester is responsible for routing the request, it was probably building the request (with the UNC pathname) and passing it to the wrong server (if the WINS database provided an incorrect name resolution), which resulted in the Status 94 |
